Yes she must have been unhappy to end her life early. Diane and her husband Allan Arbus had a thriving commercial studio, but she wan’t cut our for that. The problem was she was at least 30 years ahead of her time.
And WeeGee was 30 ahead of her. I think she never found the special someone who helped her in her private life, someone outside photography. Maybe she couldn’t be helped, maybe she didn’t want help. Only she knew

Her bravery was nonpareil. She went where only men had gone before, and paid the ultimate price.
