Fish Box
Fish Box – Jagalchi Market (자갈치시장), Busan, Republic of Korea
Jagalchi Market is the largest fish market in S. Korea. All the fish mongers are women known as Jagalchi Ajumma (middle- aged or married women). The fishing boats start coming in to the docks around 2:00 am and the fish in the box replete with pretty green ribbon was captured at 4:00 am. I was told that this particular fish was caught in the Mediterranean and would sell for $200.00 in Korea.

I have a question,
“What kind of fish is it that it is tied up with green ribbon and placed in a box with ice, like it is a gift?”

I can’t remember the name of the fish, but it was caught in the Mediterranean Sea by a Korean fishing vessel. They consider it a delicacy so that’s why the fish is getting the royal treatment.

Of course I was immediately drawn to it, a beautiful fish in its own box with a green ribbon. It stood out from the rest. I was hoping for a good shot, but night photography is tricky and it was the film days. You never really knew. I didn’t see it until the film came back from the Lab in Hollywood at least a month later.
