Old Tobacco Barn, North Carolina
I was on my way to hike to the top of Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi when I happened upon this old tobacco barn, doors wide open, tobacco hanging up to dry, with the rufescent leaves of late autumn, gracing the ground. There was a slight wind blowing so I remained…still…waiting for a lull. By the time this image was on film, it was too late to hike Mt. Mitchell so I ended up driving to the peak arriving just in time to capture a Moonscape. I hope to return someday to do it the hard way. Driving always seems like cheating.
