Autumn Stream, North Carolina

Autumn Stream, North Carolina, USA

I’ll dedicate this image to my father.  Whenever I was in North Carolina, he liked to ride along with me on the back roads looking for beauty, or maybe even art. At this stage in his life, he was legally blind due to macular degeneration, could no longer use a camera but somehow managed to keep painting. He could still see light, shadow, shapes and color, but no detail. As was customary on these outings, I set up my camera and tripod and framed the image, then stepped aside so he could look through the viewfinder. When he was finished, the master gave his nod of approval and I tripped the shutter.
