Light and Shadow

Light and ShadowLight and Shadow – Belasco Theater, 1050 South Hill Street, Los Angeles, California, USA

This photo was taken from the Northeast corner of Broadway and 11th Street. It shows the backside of the Belasco Theater with the original  lighting system used to illuminate the now painted over and nearly hidden Belasco Theater sign. At around 10:00 – 10:30 am, each light casts its shadow creating a musical score across the top of the building. Also in view is the, Emmanuel Gospel Temple sign, a remnant of the  many years the Belasco Theater was used as a church.

  1. so interesting, the effect shadows can have telling a story separate to the light, yet adding depth that colour can not do… in fact colour sometimes takes away from the true focal point, or the wanted focal point.
