Stone Wall at Bulguksa Temple
Stone Wall at Bulguksa Temple – Kyongju, Republic of Korea
Bulguksa Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and rightfully so. Built in 774 A.D., it is an engineering marvel, but that is not paramount because engineering can be explained. There is majesty to this temple perched on a mountaintop, serenity in the silence, mysticism, the unexplainable. The trek along the trails that thread upward on the wooded mountainside is essential to the experience, especially in the stillness of early morning. If you bushwhack through the woods, there’s a good chance you will run into ancient tombs and other artifacts. If you’re really lucky, you may get lost there…

Nice lines, Bisogno. And I love the “natural” look of this unnatural presentation of stone.

Thank you so much Shannon. I rarely shoot this way, but was overcome by the symmetry, the beauty of harmonious balance.

sukiyama02. You are correct. It is obvious that what you include in an image is important. Not as obvious, but just as important is what you leave out. I’m glad you thought I got it just right.
