This is my one and only capture at El Matador on this stormy day, December 1, 2012. It was raining and I forgot to bring an umbrella to clip onto my tripod to keep the camera dry. After tripping the shutter once, I decided my D3 was getting too wet and back in the pack it went. The weather forecast had been for clearing in late afternoon, but it never did. This is such an interesting park.
It has scattered rocks of many sizes and shapes, some of the rocks are massive.
How did these rocks manafest?
I like the moody, rain filled clouds in the background.
It looks like early low tide since the sand is still very wet.
There are many colours, light brown in the dry upper section of the rocks, dark muddy brown, yellow, shades of green and some white.
I think I can see the water height on some of the sides.
I like that there are no footprints in the sand, so it is unmarred by humanity.
The motion is in the water I can almost see it moving.

It is interesting because there’s always some kind of weather event going on, and the light is never the same. On this particular day, El Matador spoke to me in color.
Sea stacks form by the processes of coastal geomorphology, wind, water, and wave erosion. Over time a headland collapses due to erosion leaving a portion of rock still standing.
