  1. I love the vibrant colours of the mask. Is this a hand puppet? This appears to be not a professionally made puppet which in my book gives the mask more charm and character. The blue butterfly seems to be in 3D. What is the opening day celebration in honour of? I like this! You have taken something so simple and made it special.

    • It was the opening ceremony for Grand Avenue Park, a twelve acre expanse starting at the top of Bunker Hill and stretching all the way to the bottom at Los Angeles City Hall. I was covering the event, but at the same time looking for something for myself. The mask with its vibrant color scheme was perfect. Worn by someone on stilts covered by a body wrap, the mask was 10-12 ft. off the ground and the mask was at least four times as big as a human head.
