  1. Thanks Paul for your comment. I used to live two blocks from the Pan Pacific Auditorium. After it burned down, the neighborhood felt empty. It had lost it’s crown jewel. This was a classic case of our government representatives turning a deaf ear to it’s constituency.

At the time, I wanted to create an image that would depict this structure/work of art in all of its beauty and despair. I had a gut feeling that it would not be around forever. Unfortunately I was right. I hope I captured it.

  2. Really great to see a little bit of the past that we lived with. I remember Monte and his friends getting into the place and skate boarding…..probably a lot more than that, but skateboarding. I think he was also in a band that had some photo’s taken there inside.

  3. Yeah, it was so easy to get inside, even bands were having their promo shots done in there! I wish I had pictures of the interior, but I could never get myself to go in. I felt I might be adding to the destruction.

I remember you taking pictures of a gang tagging one of the outside walls. Afterwards, you went up to them and asked if they were affiliated with a boys club! I’ll never forget that…and somehow, you lived to tell the story!

  4. What a story, in fact what a writer you are, as well as painting a picture with your camera you are a gifted writer, as well as a musician. A multi talented man to be sure!

I really like the photo you show her as still having grace and style even to the end.
{Of course I do it is in my favorite medium}!
