Thanks, TJ. I saw this shot while riding my bike. I didn’t have my camera with me at the time so I jotted down the angle and best time of day as 6:00 pm. I returned on 6/16/10 with camera and tripod in tow and made the image at 6:34 pm (according to metadata). The sun was behind another building outside of the frame at camera left, leaving the foreground in shadow while still shining on Bank of America Plaza.

“Lezlie Sokol” Painted Cloud Gallery: Thank you so much. I nailed the hyperfocal distance on my Nikkor f2.8 24mm lens. I know this lens well since I’ve had it for 20 years or so. This was before smartphone apps that will figure out hyperfocal distance for you.
